War Crimes on Sunday in Palestine

Today there is another total closure of the West Bank for Palestinians. The 'lock-down' is for three days. Its the second closure this week. And it constitutes a war crime as a 'collective punishment' under the 4th Geneva Convention. Israel says it is for security but it would because its illegal occupation naturally makes the army feel insecure.

At 6.00am we went to the checkpoint in Bethlehem to see the hundreds of Palestinians who normally queue from 2:00am or 3:00am in the morning to get through at 5.00am to look for work as day labourers or are fortunate to have jobs in Israel. They are the lucky ones to get day permits. They must be out by 7.00pm though otherwise they will lose their permit. Today there were only a handful of medical cases allowed through.

This behaviour would not be tolerated anywhere else in the Western world. Why here?
